Prof. Elza Erkip Listed as Thompson Reuters' 2014 Highly Cited Researchers

 

Thompson Reuters published its 2014 Highly Cited Researchers list, representing some of the world's leading scientific minds - and it includes ECE Faculty Member Prof. Elza Erkip. This list identifies the top 1% of researchers in 21 academic fields. Prof. Erkip was one of the 117 researchers listed in Computer Science.

The recognition comes after Thompson Reuters analyzed over 113,000 Highly Cited Papers collected between 2002 and 2012 using Essential Science Indicators. Each of these papers ranked in the top 1% by total citations according to field assignment and year of publication. The researchers honored this year rank among the top 1% most cited for their subject field and year of publication, earning them the mark of exceptional impact.

Prof. Erkip is a Fellow of IEEE for contributions to multi-user and cooperative communications.  She received the NSF CAREER award in 2001, the IEEE Communications Society Stephen O. Rice Paper Prize in 2004, the IEEE ICC Communication Theory Symposium Best Paper Award in 2007, and the IEEE Communications Society Award for Advances in Communication in 2013. Currently she is a Distinguished Lecturer and a Member of the Board of Governors of IEEE Information Theory Society.
